In his Seventies heyday, Paul Michael Glaser earned sex symbol status as a brooding detective on the cop drama Starsky and Hutch. In more recent years, he has built a reputation as one of the best directors working in television. But it's the challenges he has faced off-screen that define him. In 1981, his wife Elizabeth was infected with HIV after receiving a tainted blood transfusion, and she unknowingly passed it on to their two children. The Glasers' daughter Ariel died in 1988 at the age of seven, and Elizabeth herself died in 1994. Today, Glaser honours their memories by carrying on the fight for AIDS awareness, prevention and research. In this episode, he opens up about his work, his life and the spirituality that has sustained him through good times and bad.

In his late 40s to late 50s, a master of the universe, Hanson is the head of the Global Development Organization, founded in 2000 with "the express notion that you can make the world a better place." A man whose corporate board is a billionaire boy's club, Hanson has been fingered by conspiracy theorists as the evil genius behind everything, from fixing the Super Bowl to hiding Osama Bin Laden, and when Hanson's building is blown to smithereens, everyone's a suspect. A believable, earnest guy who states that his real goal in life is to transform the lives of the desperately poor, Hanson is almost killed in the blast, and the detectives have to pick and choose from among his many enemies. But Hanson is a more slippery figure than his manner indicates, and the motive for the bombing turns out to be a very down-to-earth kind of criminal conspiracy: it was all about some real estate...

****BBC Radio 2 to examine How Aids Changed America...a special documentary to mark the 20 th anniversary of the first World Aids Day for Britain’s most listened to radio station.
* How Aids Changed America will be presentedand narrated by Paul Michael Glaser and will air on BBC Radio 2 at 10.30pm on December 2 nd.

This program will look back at nearly three decades of pain, prejudice and progress in the American peoples' struggle with HIV/Aids.
Creative Director of Made in Manchester Productions, Ashley Byrne, says: “The epidemic had a major effect on Paul’s life. His wife Elizabeth contracted the virus through a blood transfusion and both his wife and daughter later died of an Aids-related illness.
“Through archive, some of it collected by former Washington Post journalist John-Manuel Andriote (diagnosed HIV-positive himself in 2005), as well as new interviews, How Aids Changed America examines how the crisis really did change attitudes,” says Ashley

* How Aids Changed America, narrated by Paul Michael Glaser,is very much based around the research collected by former Washington Post journalist John-Manuel Andriote who has devoted almost two decades to collecting interviews with people involved in the battle against HIV and Aids in America. Hes collected more than 240 tapes with a whole range of people and his work has been deemed so important in understanding how the pandemic affected America in the early years.
* The hour long radio program How Aids Changed America will look at John's personal exploration of HIV and Aids (his partner who died of AIDS encouraged him to start the collection and he himself is now HIV positive. John will also be re-visiting some of the people he originally visited to see how their views may have changed and this material will also be made available to researchers to help in future understanding of how HIV/Aids is continually affecting the country on different levels. Included in this documentary is the work and dedication of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation, interviews with Paul, Jake, Bob Bowers and Pam M.

* Oct 6th.. The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation held its annual Golf Tournamentt Fundraiser! it was a beautiful day and raised almost $1 million! Started off with a nice breakfast, driving range contest.. to which Paul was the first of only three golfers to hit the designated EGPAF target for the grand prize. He came in second in the final playoff for the prize. As always, a great event!

* Paul to guest star in TNT's "The Closer" airdate July 21st: He plays the parent of a murdered girl: When the murderer of the daughter of a wealthy producer is paroled after ten years, her parents initiate a campaign of harassment against the man, now living in a halfway house. When the man turns up dead, Priority Homicide must investigate, with the girl's parents soon their prime suspects. But is the halfway house where the man lived all it seemed to be, or does it keep a secret Brenda and the team must uncover?
* Paul will be starring as the evil "Abanazar" in the Panto "Aladdin" at the Sunderland (UK)Empire Theatre from Dec. 5 till Jan. 4th. There will be singing and shaking going! (www.sunderlandempire.org.uk.)
