EGPAF 15th Anniversary for a Time for Heroes, June 13th, 2004

A wonderful fundraiser set in carnival format. Full of games, food from local gourmet restaurants, craft projects for kids and "big kids"-- make your own soap, magnets, key chains, buttons and more; meet and greet celebrities. Every dollar raised will be directed to funding critically-needed pediatric research. Last year raised over $1.5 million. UPDATE: A very beautiful sunny, warm day as the Wadsworth Theatre grounds filled up with families, celebrities, EGPAF staff and volunteers. A carnival setting lined with games, Spiderman climbing wall, storytelling stage and gourmet food booths. Celebrities such as Jack Nicholson, Matthew Perry, Bob Picardo, Vanessa Williams, Roma Downey, Christina Applegate and many more participated in manning booths, telling stories, face painting and other wonderful activities spread through out the day. The closing ceremonies consisted of a concert by Josh Kelly and Amy Lightman . Greetings and thank you's from Kate Carr and Jake Glaser ended a perfect day. Jake, taking a deep breath at the podium, thanked everyone for their hard work and for helping to continue the mission of the EGPAF which his mother and two best friends began at their kitchen table. This year's event raised over $1.4 million!

Four-time Golden Globe nominee Julianne Moore and world-renowned fashion designer Donna Karan are among some of the celebrity supporters who will come out to enjoy the event. UPDATE: A great event as usual. This year raised over $1.3million! Celebrities manned the booths providing great cheer and photo's for everyone who attended. After their booth time, most walked around to enjoy the festivities. Filled with crafts, a dance jam site, great gourmet food and more. At the closing of the day, Kate Carr and Jake Glaser expressed their gratitude's and spoke a little bit about the foundation. A wonderful event for all. Jake Glaser is 19, attends college, and is a wonderful spokesman for the EGPAF. Recently he spoke at the Annual Kids for Kids kickoff cocktail party on March 11th, 2004 in New York. Jake addressed the attendees: "Kids for Kids is a special event because it's a chance to put smiles on kids faces, and it reminds us of why we do the work we do...We have to continue to build momentum in our fight to save millions of children who are dealing with HIV/AIDS like me."
Jake made a wonderful presentation at the Kid's for Kid's event in New York on May1st and the "Time For Heroes" in LA in June, 2004. A privilege to hear him speak. Thank you Jake.
